Farming system is a complex integrated matrix of plants, soil, animals, farm implements, labour, power, capital, and other inputs that is controlled or managed by farming families and is also influenced by external forces like institutional, economic, and social forces that work under certain levels.

Importance of a farming systems

In a country like India where farming is a primary sector and has about 80% small/marginal farmers work to fulfill the basic requirements such as cereal, oil-seeds, fruits, vegetable, pulses, honey, and meat). In the past, many efforts have already been made to increase the rate of productivity of farming systems such as crop, livestock, dairy, poultry, goat keeping, sericulture, apiculture, mushroom cultivation, and more.

• To increase the overall environmental safety along with balanced food
